Beta Sigma Kappa Research Fellowship Fund

Overview

Beta Sigma Kappa (BSK) was founded in 1925 by a small group of optometrists in Illinois. Today, BSK has student chapters in every school and college of optometry in the United States, with two in Canada, and one in Puerto Rico. The Society supports the formation and activities of student chapters and works with the schools and colleges to develop programs that foster academic excellence. Their mission is to stimulate scientific attainment, academic excellence and the ethical practice of optometry and to promote and provide financial support for worthy research projects relating to vision care and the eyes.

In 2010 Beta Sigma Kappa entered into partnership with the American Optometric Foundation by providing an initial donation of $50,000 to endow programs to support young researchers whose academic curiosity leads them to seek answers to professionally-based questions covering a wide area of vision science, clinical practice, or eye related public health.
