- The Academy 2013 Seattle Plenary Session, “Today’s Research, Tomorrow’s Practice®: Stem Cells and Ocular Regenerative Therapies,” will take a fascinating look at the research and clinical applications of ocular regenerative therapies using stem cells. Speakers will explore the unique properties of adult and embryonic stem cells and their capabilities for the treatment of anterior and posterior ocular disease. Speakers include Amander T. Clark, PhD, a cell biologist and geneticist from the UCLA Department of Molecular Cell and Developmental Biology and Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Medicine; Jeffrey Goldberg, MD, PhD, Professor and Director of Research at the Shiley Eye Center at UC San Diego; and Victor L.
