AAO STAFF CREDO

The staff of the American Academy of Optometry supports the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan as set forth by the Board of Directors (formerly referred to as the Executive Council). It is our desire to uphold the quality and traditions of the Academy’s practices by consistently enforcing policies, practicing quality customer service and meeting organizational and departmental goals.

Staff measure success by: Meeting department goals

  • Meeting overall organizational and fiscal goals
  • Positive feedback from members, leaders, and the Board of Directors
  • Meeting individual professional goals

Critical to our success are:

  • Strong relationships with volunteers, which involve partnership, open dialogue, and mutual respect for the contributions of both staff members and volunteers.
  • Supportive relationships among staff members which include cooperative teamwork, mentoring, communication, pooling skills and resources, and encouraging professional growth.
  • Observance of and adherence to the values of trust/respect, cooperative spirit, ethical practices, and balance.
  • Adequate resources, including personnel, outsourcing opportunities, financial resources, appropriate hardware/software, adequate office space and furnishings, competitive compensation, and continued training and professional development.
