Fredric Rosemore Low Vision Educational Grants 

Background

The American Optometric Foundation (AOF) is delighted to announce the 2011 Fredric Rosemore Low Vision Educational Grant program. At least two $2,000 grants are planned to be awarded annually.

The Rosemore Low Vision Educational Grants are intended to increase interest and reward excellence in the field of low vision at North American schools and colleges of optometry. The Educational Grants may be used to provide care, to support personnel, to provide equipment or to fill any other need in the field of low vision identified by the institution and consistent with the AOF mission. The awards will be made by the AOF directly to the institution or the affiliated foundation based on the institution’s proposal of use consistent with the AOF mission. 

Application Procedures

 

THE APPLICATION WINDOW FOR THIS AWARD WILL OPEN IN OCTOBER!

Deadline is December 14, 2012

Applications should be one or two pages and include the purpose of the Educational Grant, the low vision services provided by the institution and a brief budget. A letter of endorsement by the Dean or President/Director of the school/ college is optional. Only one proposal may be submitted by each eligible school or college of optometry. Applications must be submitted by e-mail (preferably in PDF format) to Email AOF Awards and be formatted as follows:

a.     Cover letter consisting of proposal title, full contact information for the institution and lead administrator for the project (including degrees).
b.     Proposal with institution services provided.
c.     budget explanation
d.     letter of endorsement by the Dean or President/Director of the school/ college (optional).
 

Applications will receive a confirmation receipt by e-mail from the Foundation within 1-3 business days of the submission.  If you do not receive a confirmation contact the AOF office to ensure the application is received.

Review Procedures

Applications will be reviewed by an ad-hoc committee established by the AOF in consultation with the Low Vision Section of the American Academy of Optometry.  

Recognition of Awardees

The recipients will be recognized at the AOF Celebration Luncheon during the American Academy of Optometry's Annual Meeting. The awardees will be listed in the AOF Annual Report and announcements will be placed in the Academy newsletter and in Eye-Mail Monthly. Press Releases will be sent to all schools and colleges of optometry, optometric organizations, and the optometric press.

AMERICAN OPTOMETRIC FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES FREDERIC ROSEMORE LOW VISION GRANT RECIPIENTS

 

The American Optometric Foundation (AOF) in collaboration with the Frederic and Marion Rosemore Family Foundation announce the very first recipients of the Frederic Rosemore Low Vision Educational Grants. Three $2,000 grants were awarded to optometry faculty and their respective institutions for projects intended to increase interest and reward excellence in the field of low vision at North American schools and colleges of optometry. The grants are designed to enable institutions to provide care, support personnel, or provide equipment directly related to the field of low vision.

The 2011-2012 Rosemore Low Vision Educational Grant recipients and their projects are:

Recipients will be recognized at the AOF Celebration Luncheon during the American Academy of Optometry's Annual Meeting to be held in Phoenix, Arizona, October 24 – 27th.
