William C. Ezell Fellowship Award

PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Ezell Fellowship is to offer financial support and encourage talented persons to pursue full-time careers in optometric research and education in schools and colleges of optometry, the American Optometric Foundation (AOF) offers fellowships to graduate students (primarily optometrists) who are in a full-time program of study and training in research that leads to the Masters or PhD degree in vision science or a related field.  

ABOUT:
Currently, fellowships are awarded in amounts up to $8,000 for the period of September through August. Ezell Fellowships are non-renewable.  Applicants who have previously received an Ezell Fellowship are not eligible to apply. Although not mandatory to apply, priority for awards will be given to optometrists at a School/College of Optometry in North America who have a demonstrated interest in a career in optometric research and education.  

ELIGIBILITY:
1. Enrolled and in good standing in a MS or PhD program in vision science or a related field as of September 1.
2. A current member (student, FAAO, etc.) of the American Academy of Optometry.

Application:
Applications must be submitted electronically and received by midnight (EST) on February 1, 2017.   A complete application consists of the online application and three letters of recommendation from persons qualified to comment on your educational qualifications, research abilities and potential, and future teaching capabilities and potential.
