Hello again,
It is hard to believe that another year has passed and the Annual Meeting of the Academy is less than a month away! This year we are in Phoenix which should prove to be an exciting place.
By now, I would hope all of you have registered and made travel plans. As always, the Section has a great symposium planned for Friday afternoon. This year it is entitled "The Role of Meibomian Gland Dysfunction and Lid Wiper Epitheliopathy in Dry Eye Disease." Kelly Nichols, OD, PhD, FAAO, Gary Foulks, MD, FACS, and Caroline Blackie, OD, PhD, FAAO will present cutting edge data that every practitioner can use. Directly following the symposium will be the Section Awards Program. We will honor three stellar individuals with the Max Schapero Memorial Lecture Award, Founder's Award, and Exemplary Service Award. Also at the Awards Program we will introduce the Resident Travel Grant recipients. This year we have 26 awardees and these grants, as well as the Symposium, are sponsored by Bausch + Lomb. Please attend and show your support!
One other event that I want to highlight is the Past Chairs Reception. This is a gathering to honor those who have led the Section over the years. This years’ reception will be on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, in the Curtis B Room in the Hyatt. Come on by and enjoy the camaraderie.
