The Joseph T. Barr Early Career Cornea and Contact Lens Research Award
In recognition of extraordinary contributions to optometry and contact lenses, the AOF established an award to honor an exceptional mentor and role model of our profession, Dr. Joseph T. Barr. Dr. Barr recognizes that some of his success as an academic, researcher, clinician and industry leader, is due to a combination of having wonderful mentors and amazing support systems in his early career development.
The award provides support of $2,000 for research project seed funding for a project in the area of cornea/ocular surface or contact lenses for a new upcoming project not already funded from another source, plus $750 travel funding to the Academy annual meeting. Eligible candidates are entering first or second year MS or PhD students in vision science or physiological optics attending a North American School/College of Optometry. Applications are being accepted until April 1, 2017.
