Optometric Council for Refractive Technology (OCRT)

The OCRT will sponsor its 7th Annual Refractive Technology symposium. This meeting is held the day before the American Academy of Optometry meeting in San Francisco, CA. The brightest minds in refractive and cataract surgery will discuss the latest technology, trends in patient care featuring case studies on complicated and unusual cases. Also, the meeting includes presentations on the most recent research in refractive technology. The meeting is interactive, providing a unique forum to share your ideas, thoughts, and experiences with your colleagues. Eight hours of COPE approved CE will be awarded to attendees. The registration fee includes a continental breakfast and lunch.

Optometric Glaucoma Society (OGS)

The Optometric Glaucoma Society (OGS) will hold its 9th annual meeting beginning Monday afternoon, November 15th and continuing all day Tuesday November 16, 2010 at the Moscone Center West. Once again, the 2010 OGS annual meeting will also include a glaucoma symposium on Wednesday morning from 8:00 am to noon at the opening of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) annual meeting. The Wednesday morning symposium is jointly sponsored by the OGS and the AAO.
Five invited speakers will participate in this year?s OGS meeting and the joint OGS/AAO symposium: the 2010 OGS Honoree is Wallace L.M. Alward, M.D., Frederick C. Blodi, Chair in Ophthalmology, Professor and Vice-Chairman and Director of the Glaucoma Service in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Dr. Alward will speak on two topics: ?Gonioscopy? and ?Glaucoma Genetics for the Clinician.? The 2010 OGS President?s Award lecturer is Dr. Kuldev Singh, MD, MPH, Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Glaucoma Service at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Singh will speak on two topics: ?Randomized Clinical Trials in Glaucoma: What We Have and Have Not Learned?? and ?Normal Tension Glaucoma: Is it a Different Disease?? Dr. Ted S. Acott, PhD, Professor of Ophthalmology and Professor, of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Oregon Health and Science University will speak on the topic of ?Aqueous Outflow.? Dr. Robert Stamper, MD, Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology and Director of the Glaucoma Service at UCSF Medical Center and Dr. Marlene R. Moster, MD Professor of Ophthalmology at Jefferson Medical College and the Wills Eye Institute will also present lectures during the 2010 OGS meeting.

The Society of Federal Service Optometrists

AFOS's 41st Meeting prior to the Academy's Meeting will provide information and an opportunity to discuss issues and provide continuing education for optometrists in all branches of federal service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of Veterans Affairs, Public Health Service and Civil Service).
