Don’t miss these important dates!

  • Fellowship Candidates – submit your proposed plan to your regional chair by April 1
  • Awards – Fellows, nominate your deserving peers by April 2, 2010. Refer to the guidelines for additional information.
  • Scientific Program – submission window will be open from May 1 – May 31, 2010. Visit the Call for Abstracts.
  • Early bird meeting registration and hotel reservations begin May 20 – details to follow!

ARVO 2010 STUDENT TRAVEL FELLOWSHIP SUBMISSION DEADLINE EXTENDED

Student travel fellowship applications can now be submitted online. Encourage your student with an abstract accepted for ARVO to apply today!

Apply directly on the submission site for an ARVO 2010 student travel fellowship. Under ARVO Student Travel Fellowship, select “apply.” If not a current member of the Academy, you must create a profile for yourself before applying (select “create one” under Awards Call List). Academy members, please enter your member ID (select “login” under Awards Call List).

Application deadline is Friday, March 12, 2010 and faculty or advisor recommendations are due Monday, March 15, 2010.

DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA HOSTS TWO BIG CONFERENCES IN ONE WEEK

World class destination, Durban, South Africa, will be the host of another major event in 2010. For the first time the World Congress of Refractive Error (WCRE) and the Sixth World Conference on Optometric Education (WCOE6), will run consecutively over one week in the stunning seaside location.

The two conferences will start with WCRE, hosted by the International Centre for Eyecare Education in association with the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (September 20-22, 2010) and conclude with WCOE6 (September 22-24, 2010) hosted by the World Council of Optometry. The two events will overlap for one dynamic afternoon and dinner event which promises to provide unprecedented networking and industry exchange.
