Optometry and Vision Science Call for Papers
"Contact Lens Comfort"

Submission Deadline: September 1, 2015
Submission Window: March 1, 2015 to September 1, 2015.
Early acceptances are made E-Pubs soon after acceptance and author corrections of proofs.

Optometry and Vision Science (OVS) has become a very popular destination for contact lens research and clinical care manuscripts and publications in recent years, including two Feature issues themes related to contact lenses in 2015 and a theme issue December 2014. OVS authors, Editors and reviewers agree that it is timely for an OVS Feature theme issue entirely dedicated to one of the major topics of interest today: "contact lens comfort." While OVS has published a number of papers on this topic over the past three years, there is agreement that there are many more research programs and projects that are currently addressing this contact lens comfort issue in basic, clinical and practice research settings. Publication of this research work will advance the field in the coming years.

In response to this interest, OVS will publish a Feature issue in late 2015 or early 2016 that highlights these research advances.

OVS will work with an esteemed team of guest editors from among those who have already expressed a commitment to this OVS theme issue. Those include Mark Willcox, Jason Nichols, Fiona Stapleton, Eric Papas, Debra Schaumberg, Loretta Szczotka-Flynn, Pete Kollbaum, Lyndon Jones, Tim McMahon, Meng Lin, Barbara Caffery, Nancy McNamara, Maria Markoulli and Robin Chalmers. OVS believes there will be great interest in this publication among practicing clinicians and basic and clinical scientists.

Among the topics of interest:

  • Studies of subjective comfort of contact lenses, including its measurement
  • Studies of physiological issues for comfort of contact lenses, including its measurement
  • Novel approaches to improving contact lens comfort, including materials, coatings, solutions, lens care, fitting approaches,
  • Basic studies seeking tools for measuring, assuring, enhancing and correcting contact lens comfort

The window for manuscript submission is: 1-March-2015 through 1-September-2015.
Early submissions are encouraged; they have priority dates for E-publication (soon after the authors correct the first proofs). OVS website is, http://journals.lww.com/optvissci/).
