Bringing health issues to the attention of the public and profession is the goal of the Section on Public Health and Environmental Optometry.
Our symposium for 2009 to be held in Orlando is titled: "Keeping Our Eyes Open for Domestic Abuse." This symposium will bring optometrists into the mainstream of health and social care by assessing the causes, costs, and containments of domestic violence. Particular emphasis will be on patients not commonly thought of as victums such as men, parents, and caretakers.
