Abstract

This one-hour lecture is aimed at clinicians who wish to learn or further understand the nature of dry eye research. A brief introduction and review of dry eye disease is presented first. This will be followed up with a discussion on some characteristics of dry eye disease that can make dry eye research particularly frustrating. The main challenges are the lack of standardization of tests, restrictive participant entry criteria, and lack of correlation between symptoms and signs.
